About David

David, Trisha and family
“David Butterfield is a credit to Cache County. He’s as hard working and dedicated as they come—a real rising star in the Utah House.”
Governor Gary Herbert
I grew up working on the farms of Northern Cache Valley and attended Cache County public schools. I graduated from Utah State University, where I met my wife. I also graduated with an MBA from BYU’s Marriott School of Management.
Trisha and I live in Logan where I am the President of USU Credit Union. Each of our four children attend Logan public schools. We love this community and all the opportunities it affords our family.
As a newly elected member of the Utah House of Representatives I was an effective advocate for limited government, education, the needs of the citizens of Logan and the state, and common-sense principles.
I have spent my professional career working for small businesses in different industries.
Some of the things that will help me be a better representative for the citizens of Logan include:
- President & CEO, USU Charter Credit Union
- Vice Chair, Utah House Committee on Revenue & Taxation
- MBA, Marriott School of Management at BYU (June 2010)
- Cache Chamber of Commerce, Member
- Chairman, Cache County Republican Party (2005–08)
- Lincoln Club President, Cache County Republican Party (2003—05)
- B.A. Utah State University (1996)
- Member Utah State University Board of Trustees (1994—95)
- USU Student Body President and “Outstanding Student Leader” recipient, (1994—95)
- State and county Republican delegate
- LDS Missionary, Sydney Australia (1988—90)
- Graduate, Sky View High School (1988)
- Married to Trisha Butterfield and father of four children
